YOUR WORK, ON YOUR DEVICE
Privacy policy
Last updated 5 October 2026
Cuebook’s browser editor opens and edits your scripts on your device. Your PDFs, cue notes and project files are not uploaded to Cuebook. You do not need an account.
Who is responsible?
Cuebook is operated by Gerard Wareham. This notice covers cuebook.co.uk, app.cuebook.co.uk and the Cuebook desktop app. For privacy questions, requests or a confidential security report, email gerardwarehammusic@gmail.com. Please do not send private scripts unless they are necessary to a request and you have permission to share them.
Your scripts and annotations
When you open a PDF or .cuebook project, its contents are processed locally in your browser or desktop app. Saving a project or exporting a PDF creates a file on your device. There are no Cuebook accounts, cloud saves, shared project links, advertising trackers or AI processing in this version. We cannot view, recover or delete files that only exist on your device.
Recovery copies and browser storage
By default, the browser app keeps a recovery copy of the most recently opened script, including its PDF and annotations, in this browser’s IndexedDB storage. Reading preferences are kept in local storage. This data is not sent to Cuebook. Anyone with access to the same browser profile may be able to open the recovery copy.
In the app, choose View → On this device to turn recovery off or select Clear stored data. Turning recovery off deletes the stored recovery copy. Clearing stored data also removes saved reading preferences; the current open script remains in memory until the tab closes. A local setting remembers that recovery is off. You can remove all Cuebook site data using your browser settings. Other open Cuebook tabs may write another recovery copy if recovery is enabled there; close them before clearing data on a shared device.
Recovery data remains until it is replaced, cleared by you or removed by the browser. It is separate for each browser, device and website address. Private browsing, storage limits or clearing site data may remove it without warning. Download a .cuebook project for a lasting backup. Downloaded files and desktop recovery copies are separate from browser storage and must be managed on the device.
Website visits
Cloudflare hosts and protects the website and browser app. Delivering a page necessarily involves technical information such as your IP address, the requested URL, request time and browser information. Cloudflare may process security logs and service metrics to operate and protect its network. Script contents and cue notes are not included in these requests by Cuebook.
We use the technical information needed to deliver and secure the service on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating a reliable, secure website. We do not add advertising or behavioural analytics scripts. Cuebook itself does not set tracking cookies. Browser recovery and preferences support the local features you use; you can control them as described above. Cloudflare’s service-level processing and retention are described in Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Optional email updates
If you choose to subscribe, Buttondown processes your email address and subscription information so Gerard Wareham can send Cuebook release updates. Subscribing is optional and separate from using or downloading Cuebook. The embedded form contacts Buttondown only after you choose to load it; you can also visit Buttondown directly.
We use your consent to send these emails. You can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in an email or by contacting us. Subscription details are retained while you subscribe; limited records may be retained where needed to honour an unsubscribe request or meet legal obligations. See Buttondown’s privacy policy for its handling of signup, delivery and service data.
Support, feedback, downloads and donations
If you email us, your address, message and any attachments are processed to respond to your request. This is based on our legitimate interests in providing support and handling privacy or security matters, and legal obligations where applicable. Email is handled through Gmail. We keep correspondence while it is needed to resolve the matter and maintain relevant records; we review it and remove personal information when it is no longer needed. Ask us if you need details about a particular request.
GitHub hosts installer downloads and public bug reports. Information submitted in a GitHub issue is public: never include confidential scripts, personal information or security exploit details there. Optional donations are handled by Ko-fi and its payment providers. Cuebook does not receive your full payment-card details. Records needed for accounting or legal obligations are retained for the applicable required period.
These services have their own terms and privacy notices: Google, GitHub and Ko-fi. Following a link or submitting information to them is your choice.
Recipients and international processing
Personal information is used by Gerard Wareham and the service providers described above for their stated purposes. We do not sell personal information. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to protect legal rights. These providers operate internationally and may process information outside the UK; their linked notices describe their arrangements and transfer safeguards. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to your data.
Your choices and rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you rights to request access, correction, erasure, restriction or transfer of your personal information, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw consent to optional emails without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. Contact gerardwarehammusic@gmail.com to make a request. We may need enough information to verify your identity; we normally respond within one month, subject to lawful extensions.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Cuebook does not use personal information for automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
Changes to this notice
Changes will be published here with an updated date. If a future version introduces accounts or cloud storage, its privacy information will be provided before those features collect your information.
